WHAT IS MISS WORLD?

The Miss World competition is not simply a judgement of "beauty". We empower our finalists to be intelligent international ambassadors for foreign trade, ambassadors for diversity and as powerful voices to assist Australian charities. The Miss World Organization has assisted to raise more than $500 million as part of our "Beauty with a Purpose" initiatives and have helped to redefine the judgement of beauty to "a healthy body image". We also provide peer-to-peer education to young men and women in schools on such issues as ”Its OK to say No" and "Life Education on Drugs and Alcohol".

In 2009 we will continue to strive to make the Australian public aware of the role of Miss World Australia and bring profile to our outstanding young Ambassadors who are making a difference in our society.

We will continue to work on peer-to-peer education and role modelling acceptance of our own bodies.

Miss World Australia holds Regional Finals, State Finals and then finalists go forward into the Miss World Australia National Final. Miss World Australia will be crowned  at the Miss World Australia Gala Crowning Dinner & Show in August at a high profile, media driven event, which attracts interest from all parts of the community.

  • Entrants are encouraged to enter and to volunteer their time or fundraise for a charity
  • 100% of the money raised must go directly to charity & the entrant will be credited with that effort by showing MWA the receipted amounts.

The concept of Miss World Australia as a vehicle for raising much-needed funds for charity throughout the community is referred to as “Beauty with a Purpose”.

An example of recipient charities include The Oasis Foundation, Ronald McDonald Charities, Variety, The Children’s Charity, Rotary, Dalwood Homes, Life Education, Starlight Foundation, Red Cross, Youth Off the Streets, Butterfly Foundation, National Breast Cancer, UNICEF and The Child Abuse Association. Miss World Australia is a UNICEF Ambassador, a Red Cross National Ambassador and a Youth off the Streets Ambassador.

In 2004 Miss World appointed Pauline McFetridge as their new licensee in Australia. Ms McFetridge is a professional entertainment and events producer. In her voluntary capacity Ms McFetridge has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for special needs children in Australia, Canada and in the USA.

Share our vision to make Miss World Australia the most glamorous celebrated competition for young women. Each contestant will use whatever ability they may have to further their own career while helping others in her community.  Miss World Australia will be an example to all young people, both in conduct and determination, to create a success of their life.
